Custom Index Tab Dividers

Create custom index tab dividers for your planner or bullet journal with no special cutting machines or punches | suzerspace.com

I’m pretty embarrassed that it took me so long to realize that what my planner/bullet journal hybrid really needed was a set of custom index tab dividers.

Embarrassed for two reasons –

1) I consider myself a pretty organized person, and the key to organization is everything needs a place, and labeling the places is most of the fun!

and

2) I work at a company that specializes in index tabs, binders and presentation folders.

I think the saying is the cobbler’s children have no shoes?

Anyway, once I realized I wanted tab dividers, I had two choices – have someone at work make them for me the actual professional way, or make them myself.

Not wanting to waste a work favor, I decided to make my own.

Whimsical Watercolor Birds

Watercolor blobs become birds (or beasts) with just a few quick strokes of a black pen | suzerspace.com

I’ve been completely addicted to making little birds out of watercolor blobs for weeks now. Each weekend I’ve been working on my watercolor skills by working through a new tutorial I find. And then, invariably, I end up making a few new versions of little birds to always be sure to end the craft day on a high note.

I’ve shown little peeks of them in a monthly roundup, and a post on how to make a simple paper frame.

I totally did NOT invent these. I saw them here and was instantly in love. But unless you were searching for them, they might be tricky to find, and since they are so sweet and simple, I thought I’d share the process here.

Mixed media mother's day card | suzerspace.com

Wow, May really went by in the blink of an eye.

It seems like just a minute ago I was in Chicago visiting family for Mother’s Day weekend, and now it’s Memorial Day Weekend.

At SuzerSpace, the Sunday before Memorial Day is actually the holiday. It’s non-stop racing, starting with the beautifully scenic Formula 1 race at Monaco (usually watched in bed with scrambled eggs, toast & champagne), followed by the self proclaimed “Greatest Spectacle in Racing” the Indianapolis 500. We get a chunk of downtime before the NASCAR version – the CocaCola 600 starts up for the evening’s entertainment.

We usually round out the weekend with planting annuals, bike rides and at least one cookout.

Paper strips gathered with brads form a easy and pretty paper strip circular Christmas ornament | SuzerSpace.com

This is the fifth of  a series of twelve paper ornaments I’m making this year, one a month so that when December rolls around, I won’t be surprised to discover I’ve done nothing about my wish to have a fully paper crafted Christmas Tree.

I’m really a simple crafter. Upcycle projects make me happy. Kids crafts litter my Pinterest boards. And turning strips of scrap paper into Christmas Ornaments is my new obsession.

The possibilities are nearly endless – thicker strips make a more covered ball, while thinner ones make a more open design. Do them all in the same paper, or mix it up.

This is also a great craft for your little helpers.

Shadowbox Kitchen Sign

A punny kitchen sign comes together with the help of an Ikea shadowbox frame and some tricky cutting with a Silhouette Cameo | SuzerSpace.com

I have a thing for puns. And paper crafting. So you can bet when I can put them together, I’m in a happy place.

I saw this shadowbox technique on Pinterest, of course. And I filed it away in my brain for “just the right time.”

The process is pretty straightforward, but don’t worry – I made it harder just because that’s how I like to roll.
