Using my Silhouette Cameo

Herb Garden Markers

It’s no real secret that I don’t have a green thumb. It’s comforting to know I’m not alone, but whenever I see those beautiful photos of homes with indoor plants, my mind filters out the last time and it’s unhappy ending and starts dreaming of buying new greenery, scrubbing up some pots and rearranging furniture.

And then I come back to earth. It’s best for all involved if I stick to something simple like herbs. This year I accidentally became very successful growing garlic.

A garlic head fell out of the basket I keep them in and became hidden behind the toaster. When I found it, it had sprouted two-inch long greens and a set of roots, so I dropped it in a small metal pail filled with dirt and it really took off. The long greens are super mild but add a nice topping to cooking – kind of like chives only garlicky.

I’m also good with basil and oregano, growing them in big pots outside and trimming them for cooking as needed.

Bunny Party Picks

Easily create special party picks for your next celebration using the print and cut feature of Silhouette Studio, some self adhesive sticker stock, and some toothpicks | SuzerSpace.com

A few weeks ago Mr. SuzerSpace and I were in this fabulous store that is crammed full of kitchen goods – some of them essential, like pots and pans, and some of them really not essential (spoons for scraping out the last bit of jelly from the jar, onion chopping goggles, and a teapot shaped like a chicken?). It’s in a building that dates back from the 1920s, and the hardwood floors creak as you walk across them, searching for treasures.

That day, we were actually hunting for a hamburger press, but it’s impossible to go there and not go up and down every aisle, and in doing so I spied these super cute “Party Picks” which were essentially oversize toothpicks that had little decorations on the top that looked like Cheese, Grapes and Wine Glasses.

In true crafter fashion I said to myself “I can make those” and I decided that Easter Bunnies would be the perfect topic for my first attempt.

Dress Pattern Cards

This dress pattern card template offers seemingly endless possibilities | suzerspace.com

Welcome to the March Pinterest Challenge Blog Hop. The purpose of this Pinterest Challenge is to motivate all the participants of this hop (and you too) to not just pin, but to make it happen!

Just last week I was commenting that having a Silhouette Cameo and creating paper crafts with it was like paper dolls for adults.

When I saw this pin:

I knew that I had to make it, since it was was even more like paper dolls for adults!

The tutorial at Homemade Gifts Made Easy is really well done; they step you through everything you need to be successful with this project, including a couple of options of downloadable templates. Their original craft involves making the dresses out of scanned book pages, and I really did like that idea, but since this is SuzerSpace, I did switch it up a little.

St. Patrick’s Day Pin

Change a standard lettering cut file to one large enough to wear as a St. Patrick's Day pin by knowing this neat offset trick | suzerspace.com

St. Patrick’s Day has become one of those holidays that everyone celebrates, kind of like Cinco de Mayo. It’s a big deal here in Kansas City, with a huge parade, lots and lots of bar hopping, bands and singing.

At SuzerSpace, we tend to do things pretty low key. When Mr. SuzerSpace worked downtown and we had free and safe parking, we’d go to the parade, but for the last several years we’ve just watched it on TV and made Reuben sandwiches.

Of course, there’s a little crafting to round out the day.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

Mr. SuzerSpace and I keep it very low key for the holidays. We don’t travel, and we don’t have extended family to shop for, so as it becomes “crunch time” for others, we just sit back and enjoy the sights.

After a beautiful (but brisk) walk in nice shopping area, we came back today to enjoy some old movies (for him) and some crafting (for me).

And I thought I’d share this Thank You card, because come tomorrow afternoon, you may need it.
