It’s the third Tuesday of the month, so Welcome to the November Pinterest Challenge Blog Hop, hosted by My Pinterventures. The purpose of this Pinterest Challenge is to motivate all the participants of this hop (and you too) to not just pin, but to make it happen!
This month, I chose this tutorial for making my own fleece ear warmer.
Here’s the thing. I have to be super careful when I pick a sewing project, because while I have a wonderful sewing machine (thanks mom!), I have limited sewing skills.
This one was attractive because it only uses straight lines. And even if they get a little off, it doesn’t really matter since the material is really pretty forgiving.
I took this challenge one step further (because if making something harder than it needs to be was a super power, I’d have my own TV show) by not actually using fleece for the project. Instead, I upcycled a very worn out sweatshirt that Mr. SuzerSpace donated to my sewing bin.
I had already chopped the arms off for some other project, but there was more than enough material left in the body for the four rectangles you need to create this ear warmer.
From there it’s just straight (ish) sewing, turning and finishing ends until you have this cute ear warmer. Cat, who blogs over at Mary Martha Mama in addition to writing fleece related posts, suggests these would be great gifts for runners.
Personally, I’m a walker, but it is a great addition to my morning gear!

That’s great! I had no idea they were so easy to make. I always wear ear warmers in the winter. Super cute!
What a wonderful idea! I love my ear warmers and am forever misplacing them. I have some fun printed fleece upstairs in my stash that would be fun to use. Pinned.
What a great way to use up an old sweatshirt! I have several that could be donated for this purpose!
What a clever, fun reuse project!
I love the idea of upcycling the old sweatshirt. The ear warmers are a good idea like you say, not only for runners but for those of us who walk.
This is a great project. I never appreciated ear warmers until I had to be outside on a regular basis in all kinds of weather. Sometimes a hat is just too warm, but it’s chilly enough that my ears suffer!
What a great idea must be so warm.
I love that you upcycled something old for your beautiful ear warmers. So thrifty and smart!
Great project using an old sweatshirt! I know I have a few that I could use. Thanks for the inspiration! Pinned.
Oh, I absolutely love these! I am envisioning them embellished with some flowers. What a great inspiration. I’m happy I just stumbled over this post.
